While the shapes of some Old Persian letters may look similar to signs in Sumero-Akkadian Cuneiform, it is clear that only one of them was borrowed from Sumero-Akkadian Cuneiform. Although this document focuses on vector fonts that work well on free operating systems, these fonts will also work well on Unicode-capable Windows operating systems Windows and XP and on Apple OSX.

In many ways, the use of Unicode makes programs much more robust and secure. In particular, note that these fonts have KhandaTa encoded so KhandaTa problems should become a thing of the past.

OpenType tables have been included to allow accurate positioning of arbitrary combinations of base glyphs and diacritics. However, the bulk of characters in any script other than the common and inherited scripts are letters.
